Derek

Derek found his new home on August 11, 2005 . Martin wanted a new companion for Shiloh after the loss of his male Boxer. When Martin adopted Shiloh from us several years ago, she was a challenge at best. Very animal aggressive, she was ready to attack any dog who came near. Martin proved his mettle by successfully socializing Shiloh with the male Boxer.

We are pleased to hear that Martin has done it again! Within mere hours of taking Derek home, he had Shiloh and Derek playing and enjoying each other’s company like old pals. Derek has a new name, suggested by Martin’s daughter. He new name is Ajax, after a Greek warrior.

Ajax, a.k.a. Derek, has Martin convinced that he is a perfect dog, as is evidenced by the note Martin sent to us on September 24th:

It absolutely could not be going better. They are the very best playmates. There have been no fights at all. She does scold him periodically and he is immediately submissive although within seconds he is smacking her with his paw as to say "come on don't be so grumpy".

My only mistake was the first night I let him get on the leather couch. So, he assumed and assumes that he owns the couch. I don't have the heart to break him from it. At night he sleeps on his cushion in my bed room until I go to sleep and then if the doors are open he sneaks into the couch!!!

There have been no housebreaking accidents. He has not chewed anything up. He is just perfect. and one content dog.
