Dee Dee

Dee Dee found her new family on August 14, 2005.  James and LC experienced a "Love Connection" when they met this beautiful girl.  James & LC are veteran adopters, having recently lost their beloved Marge, who they adopted from Doberhof in 1998.  Dee Dee put a smile on their faces, as evidenced by the pictures we took before they went home.

On September 16, 2005, LC wrote the following note and sent us some pictures:

DD’s transformed our home and lives in the little over a month she’s been here.  The side lawn is graced with a starter agility course, our living room floor is “decorated” with chewy toys, and I don’t know when I last laughed so much.   She has grown attached to “Mr. Pink” a fuzzy, pink pig toy, which she “rescues” from her cage 1st thing in the morning (and I do mean “1st thing” -  DD is an early morning riser: our days are starting a little earlier now).  Other times, she shakes poor Mr. Pink in a blur of pink that I wish I could photograph.

DD likes munching on pole bean leaves (fortunately the garden is organic – see photo), patrolling the yard and garden, and taking her twice-daily walks around the lakes.  (She has an impressive sense of time:  she wants to be walked at 7am and 5pm, and lets us know that “it’s time.”)  She really seems to enjoy showing off on the agility course (I like the fact that she snoozes for hours afterwards), and her obedience training is going very well.  She now voluntarily goes into her cage, sits and stays (for doors and food), and (usually) comes when called.  We’re making progress deterring “boredom barking” and jumping.  Her “company manners,” when we’ve had house guests or visitors, have been delightful.

We are both very, very glad that you told us about Mary Waugh:  DD’s a very sensitive and willful dog, and Mary’s approach - of loving and rewarding a dog into correct behavior - was just what DD needed.  And thank you all for all that you do - saving this amazing dog and bringing such joy into our lives.

Hope you like the pictures (there are plenty more).
