Diamond's Story
Doberman Rescue exists because Doberman Pinschers
sometimes need a safety net, a place to go to help them move from an unfortunate
situation to a Forever Home. Sometimes, tiny lives that are not completely
Dobermans get swept into the maelstrom of circumstances, along with their
Doberman mothers. Over the years some amazing half-Dobermans have blessed
the lives of the people who adopted them. One such dog is Diamond.
She was born in El Paso, her mother a Doberman, and her father an Australian
Shepherd. When Diamond and her litter-mates were only a few days old, tragedy
struck. Their owner was cruelly murdered. Some wonderful people
transported the mother dog and her tiny puppies to Fort Worth, where we were
able to take them in.
The author of this piece, Ashley Nied, wrote
Diamond's story out in pencil, double spaced, and gave it to us at the 2004
Christmas Party. Her dog, Diamond makes us all proud, as does Ashley. We
think maybe Ashley will be a rescuer herself some day.
We picked Diamond out when she was five weeks old. I was
five years. We would visit her every Sunday and would take her out in the
grass and play with her. Then we took her to our house. She crawled
under the car. We got so scared and so we started calling her and she came
out! Time for her first bath. We put a little water in my play pool
and she looked so cute.
Now Diamond is a licking loveable dog. Diamond is the
perfect dog for my family. She's three and a half now.
I love that dog!
