Zoë got a false start on her journey towards a forever home. However, all is well that ends well. Fred & Elizabeth visited Doberhof on August 14, 2005, and fell in love with this special girl. Before they left to take her home we had a chance to take these pictures.
We received our first update on Zoë later that night. Fred wrote:
Zoë
is doing just fine. When
we got ready to leave, I had to help her into the SUV.
She put her front paws up in the vehicle but would not jump in.
On the way home she just laid down in the back of the SUV and went to
sleep. Once home she
had to check out every corner of the house and yard.
After giving her some water and letting her go, I decided to see how she
would handle a tennis ball. Boy,
does she like to chase them.
She does not bring them back but we will work on that.
Or, maybe she figures that if she can chase them then so can I.
Then we were off to
Pet Land for a crate, bed, food, toys, etc.
She jumped right into the back of the SUV.
At the store, she picked out her own crate.
Walked right into one of the big ones.
It is home, set up and seems to be just fine with her.
My wife had to leave a few hours and it was surprising to see
Zoë push at the door and stare at the door, and even whimper a bit when
Elizabeth did not come back in.
August 22, 2005: Zoë looks very happy and relaxed in her new home:
And Fred comes out to the rescue every Thursday, to feed and care for the rescue dogs. Thanks, Fred!
