Helping Dobermans Find New Homes Since 1994

For 20 year, Doberman Rescue of North Texas has been placing purebred unwanted or abandoned Doberman Pinschers in loving homes. Most of the Dobermans we rescue come from shelters in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Each dog is checked by a vet, given all shots, tested for heartworms, spayed or neutered, treated for any illnesses or medical problems that are found, and micro-chipped. Without exception, all dogs are spayed or neutered before they are adopted out. The dogs come to live at Doberhof, our Doberman-only private shelter in Grand Prairie. Doberhof accommodates up to 22 dogs in 11 air-conditioned and heated runs with comfortable beds and classical music. We have outdoor play yards where they exercise, sunbathe, chase squirrels and rabbits, and do other important doggy activities. We have limited additional capacity for dogs in sick bay and foster homes. When a suitable adopter makes the right choice, each dog is adopted to what we hope is a forever home. Puppies thru mature are normally available.

* As the needs of our community have changed, so have the ways we have worked with dogs at risk. Starting with 2012, our annual total consists of dogs that we have adopted to new homes; dogs that were given up for adoption but which we were able to return to their original owners after we dealt with the health, behavior, or other issue that had lead to the dog being given up for adoption; and dogs transferred to other rescues for adoption, be they other Doberman rescues we work with or other breed rescues for non-Dobermans that ended up in our care.

Important Information

Come see the dogs, most Sundays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (and ONLY on Sunday), but first, we would really appreciate it if you would fill in an Adoption Application.

We generally limit our adoptions to people who live within a five hour drive of DFW airport. The exceptions are where we have a member living in the area who can provide a safety net for an adopted dog in need.

If you live outside our adoption area, please apply to a rescue closer to you.

The first step in our adoption process is for you to submit an Adoption Application.
