Referral Dogs
The following dogs are available from their owners or custodians. We have not seen them so they have received no veterinary care from Doberman Rescue of North Texas.  We only know what the owners have told us about them. We do not charge an adoption fee for these dogs and we insist the owners do not sell them. They are to be adopted for free unless they are at a rescue or similar agency, in which case there may be an adoption fee.

All representations hereunder are those of the current custodians and not of Doberman Rescue of North Texas.

If you adopt one of these dogs, please let us know so we can take it off the list, and so we can help you with training or information, if you wish.

Abby

Abby is a 2-year-old red female with natural ears - wearing black collar in picture.  She is having to be placed because her owners adopted 3 littermates from the shelter and can't handle/afford three Dobermans (see Rosie below for other littermate being placed).  Her owner says....When we got Abby at about three months old, her right rear leg had been broken and had already healed. She does favor that leg from time to time. The vet said that's was something they see when their leg is caught in a chain maybe from one of the parents. When she plays with her litter mates she runs with them and wrestles with them and you would never suspect there was anything different about her leg but its fairly easy to see that the joint is not the same as her other rear leg and her foot hasn’t developed the same as her other rear leg. When we first got her, the doctor examined her and said that it had healed already and had good range of movement and doubted that he could do much better with surgery. Her two litter mates will very often both nip at her to the point where she will yip and many times she doesn’t want to go out with them in the back yard unless I go with. They seem to gang up on her quite a bit and will nip her until she yelps. We recently boarded them to attend a funeral out of town and Abby came home favoring her right rear leg a lot sometimes skipping along on three legs. She was afraid and very shy when we got her She's still very afraid and jumpy but she's better. Having the other two go after her doesn't help her at all and it seems to me unprovoked.  She will paw at you when she's playing with you. She hasn’t been exposed to any cats and probably should be with larger children and would love to be the center of attention in a one dog family. She loves to curl up with you if you sit on the floor with her.   Please contact Fred if you can adopt Abby: 214-679-6248 (cell) or email him fred.man@verizon.net (Updated 4/12/08)

Haley
Haley is a 3-year-old red female Doberman. She is having to be placed because her owner has passed away.  Haley is in El Paso and she has currently been taken to a shelter.    Please contact Anna (Haley's owner's daughter) if you can adopt Haley: 970-275-5703 (cell) or email her anna@hallrealty.net (Updated 1/07/08)
Rosie
Rosie is a 2-year-old red female Doberman. Rosie still has food issues and will guard her toys as well from the other two dogs, so she needs to be fed separately.  She also likes to trim my shrubs in the back yard and chew up the pieces. I have found rocks in her poop too from time to time. She loves to grab paper from a waste basket or paper towels and chew them up and swallow them. She is extremely affectionate and will walk up and put her head on your leg or arm and wait to get petted and she will walk up and lean against you to get your attention. She loves to curl up between your legs if you sit on the floor and will fall asleep with her head resting on your leg. She will lie on your feet if you're sitting in a chair.  The dogs spent 6 months living with a 6 year old, a 4 year old and two teenagers and were good with children.  I don't leave them unattended very long in the house yet as they have been known to get a magazine or a pillow off the couch and tear into it but not much lately. Rosie & Abby  are housebroken and will rarely have an accident in the house but it has happened.  They will sit with a verbal and hand command.  They both have a microchip which was placed when they  were spayed. They are current with all of their shots.   Please contact Fred if you can adopt Rosie: 214-679-6248 (cell) or email him fred.man@verizon.net (Updated 4/12/08)
Zara

Zara is a 5-year-old fawn female Doberman with cropped ears. She is a very sweet dog, a wonderful companion and is  obedient and well trained (sit, stay, heel, etc).  Her vaccinations are current and she is current on heartworm preventative.   Her owners have a new baby and are placing her because they are concerned about how she would react to the baby.    She loves to go on long walks.  Zara has a history of being dog aggressive to one small dog.  While she is good with adult humans and large animals, she should not be around children or small animals.  Please contact Melinda if you can adopt Zara: 469-258-3827 or email Andrew or Melinda at edwards_191@hotmail.com (Updated 12/27/07)
