Rescue Dobermans Available for Adoption

We are open for you to come visit the dogs
from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. most Sundays.

This page was last updated May 02, 2008.

If you are interested in adopting a Doberman from us please fill out our adoption application as the first step in the adoption process.  We will process your application and discuss it with you.  Almost every Sunday we hold an open house. After you have submitted an application we invite you to come and meet the dogs.  Please Note: In order to fund the substantial veterinary care we provide for our dogs we ask for a $175 donation for adult Dobermans with natural ears, $300 for adults with cropped ears, and $350 for purebred puppies. (Note: A Doberman is a puppy until it reaches one year in age)

You should also check our shelter page and referral page for additional dogs looking for homes.  Note that the dogs on the shelter page have only a limited time before they are put to sleep so you must move quickly if you would like one of them.

All adoptions are on a first come, first served basis.

We only adopt to people who have completed an application and have been approved.  If we have not had time to review your application before you come to Open House, we will not pull dogs out of their runs to show you. You are welcome to stay and visit, but we have a limited number of volunteers and need to focus on the people who are approved to adopt and on caring for the dogs.

ARGO
Argo is a five-year-old blue male with natural ears.  He was found running loose in Irving.  He is quite frightened of everything, but is slowly learning that people are OK. He likes to sit with his head in your lap.  He has snapped at a child so he must not go to a home where he will be around children. Argo was rescued on January 19, 2008.
DOYLE - ADOPTED
Doyle is a four-year-old black male with cropped ears. He was released to us because his owner moved into an apartment that would not allow Dobermans. We are told he is good with children and cats. Doyle was rescued on April 3, 2008.
GRADY
Grady is a six-year-old black male with cropped ears. He has had a tough life, being used as a breeder in a puppy mill.  So he is very afraid of people and slow to warm up.  We are working with him to bring him out of his shell, but expect this will be a long slow process.  He was rescued from Caddo Parish animal control in Louisiana. Grady was rescued on January 20, 2008.
GUS
Gus is a three-year-old black male with natural ears. He is crate trained, rides well in a car, and gets along well with nice dogs, both males and females. He came to us from Abilene Animal Services. Gus was rescued on March 29, 2008.
MELANIE - ADOPTION PENDING
Melanie is a four-year-old black female with natural ears.  She is very sweet and gets along with all dogs. Melanie is the hidden treasure in our rescue. This dog is a playful bundle of affection. She likes her dog buddies, but she really thrives when her people show her attention. She is a melanistic Doberman (hence the name) meaning that her tan markings are barely visible. Melanie came to us from Marshall Animal Control. She was rescued on June 12, 2007.
MARLO
Marlo is a two-year-old black female with natural ears. She came from Marshall Animal control where she was released by her owner because he was elderly and could no longer care for him.  She will dig if left outside and will try to escape through the gate if it is let open.  She is great kids and dogs.  She knows sit. Marlo was rescued on March 1, 2008.
RUBY - ADOPTED
Ruby is three-year-old red female with cropped ears. She was adopted last year but unfortunately her adopter passed away and she came back to rescue.  She was also injured in a bad car accident. Her injuries have mostly healed, but she is missing a toe. Ruby was rescued on April 1, 2008.
SAMPSON
Sampson is a seven-year-old black male with cropped ears.  He loves to play with the water when you spray a hose around him. He came to us from Marshall, Texas Animal Control.  Sampson was rescued on February 23, 2008.
SMILIN' JACK
Smilin' Jack is a one-year-old pit mix. We pulled him from Fort Worth Animal Control because he has a amazing non-stop smile (although he didn't smile while we had him on leash for pictures). [OK. We fell in love with him]. He is very affectionate and gets excited when people play with him. He likes other dogs. He should be fed alone because he was starved and now can be possessive of food. He is crate trained. Julie wants you to know that he will cling to you the same way he was clinging to his pen in the shelter in the two pictures of him smiling. Smilin' Jack was rescued on October 26, 2007. We really love this little guy.  He is always thrilled to have dog and people friends.  He gets busy doing things like walking to the other side of the living room to get a favorite toy.  If you call him, he looks up quickly, gives you a quick grin, and if you are not calling him to make him come, carries on with his important search for a toy. He's a small dog, much smaller than a Doberman. But his heart is huge.
SOLOMON
Solomon is a four-year-old black male with cropped ears.  He is strong, solidly built, and very affectionate however when he is crated he has growled defensively so we are evaluating him. He is really a lover so the crate behavior is completely out of character.  Solomon came to us from Dallas Animal Control on March 2, 2008.
ZENA
Zena is a six-year-old red female with cropped ears.  She was adopted but returned because she did not get along with the adopter's other dog.  She gets along well with other dogs, we think it was a personality conflict. Zena was rescued again on February 24, 2008.
